GRCS Celebrates Restoring Family Links Volunteer Training

The Gambia Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, successfully completed a 3-day Restoring Family Links (RFL) volunteer training, equipping volunteers with skills to reconnect separated family members, especially in migration and emergency contexts.

The RFL training aims to strengthen the capacity of GRCS volunteers to provide critical humanitarian support by helping families restore contact during crises, displacement, and situations where communication has broken down

Event requirements

Participants gained enhanced skills in family tracing and communication, boosting GRCS’s readiness to support communities during times of separation and crisis.

  • Intensive 3-day volunteer training on RFL principles and procedures,
  • Practical exercises on tracing and family communication techniques,
  • Collaboration between GRCS and ICRC facilitators, and
  • Certification of trained volunteers ready for deployment.

This includes securing a venue, obtaining any necessary permits or licenses, arranging for seating or equipment rentals, coordinating with vendors or catering services, and ensuring that any special requirements or accommodations are met for attendees
